The story of The Cattermole Group began in the late 1940's when Robert "Bob" Cattermole along with his brother Jim, formed a small logging company in the Chilliwack Valley called Cattermole Timber.

In the 1950's, Bob, now the sole proprietor, began to expand the company holdings throughout the Province of British Columbia. In addition to the mills and logging operations, Cattermole was also involved in construction of the Squamish Docks as well as the clearing of cutlines for the expansion of power lines though the Fraser Valley.

In 1971 Bob purchased the Bowman sawmill in Chilliwack, the site where Cattermole Timber would continue its operations for the next 35 years.

To accommodate the growing demands of other independent loggers in the area, Cattermole Timber expanded its dry land making it a more efficient and higher capacity booming ground. In the 1980's, engaged in both market logging and custom booming, the dry land sort had become a very active base for logs being sold out of the Fraser Valley.

In 1987 George Mohammed, a former employee of the company and close friend of Bob, purchased Cattermole Timber. As a sign of respect of his former mentor George decided to keep the companies namesake.

Over the years Cattermole Timber expanded its operation to include a civil works and road construction company, a value added lumber and trading division.

In 2001 Cattermole established a Real estate development division to deal with the land the company had been acquiring over the years. The biggest of these projects was to begin converting its substantial land holdings along the Fraser River in Chilliwack into an Industrial Park. The park, which completed in 2008, was aptly named Cattermole Industrial Estates and encompasses over 150 acres of industrial land.

In 2006 the company made a decision to sell its logging division. It was the end of a very proud era in the company's history, and the beginning of a new one. Cattermole Timber became the Cattermole Group.
